Resolve "introduce generic function to multiply a small matrix onto a larger on"

Closes #73 (closed) Successful implementation of the generic function. This should lead to some considerable speedup on small systems. These are not leading order optimizations so the effect should be smaller the larger the lattices are. There should not be a conflict with the logscale branch.
